Jaja, poster en ny playliste jeg hvis det er greit?

This week we gave away tickets to 3 shows, had Back to Beat as guest DJs and ranted about filesharing. Apart from the usual stuff; punk-news, concert-updates for the entire country and loadsa great new records. The re-run is up at our new site http://www.myspace.com/aggressoradio and at http://srib.no/musikk/agresso/

Here's this weeks playlist:

What a week!
Last week I got word not only that one of my nights at the Studentradios own Phonofestival had to be canceled, I also we're informed that our radioshow had to be canceled this week coz we were having radiocafé. I "lost" a job, "lost" my drivers license and had too much to dri.. eh, think. Anyways, we recorded a show just for you and streamed it on Myspace and http://www.srib.no so you better enjoy. The playlist for the first ever non-liveaired Aggresso! looks like this:

AGGRESSO! # 24 - 09.09.09

1. SET YOUR GOALS - LOOK CLOSER (Epitaph/Tuba)

2. THE BOMB - INTEGRITY (Recess)
Off the debut-album "Speed is Everything" from this Gainseville, FL-combo featuring members from Nayked Raygun, Big Black, The Methadones etc. If you like Leatherface, you'll love this. I didnt.

Playing the Phonofestival Friday. We had an interesting talk about religion amongst other things
9. SOCIAL SUICIDE - DEAD PEOPLE CANT SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES
10. THE BRIEFS - NO MORE PRESIDENTS (BYO)

Monday is election-day in Norway. As usual, when Norwegian punx are making a political statement, we turn to American punkrock-clichés
11. ASTA KASK - LASSE LASSE LITEN (LIVE) (Beat Butchers/Bonnier Amigo)
From one of the many semi-new releases Beat Butchers were so kind to send us last week.

Back next week with more from Beat Butchers Recs, Hombre Malo, La Casa Fantom, full report from the Phonofestival and more of the usual; concert-updates for the entire country, Punknews aaaaand interviews with Lame Ducks and Pierced Arrows. Phew!

Another week and, apparently, another "special" edition of your favourite Norwegian punkrock radioshow. On Wednesday morning, I was awoken by our technical editor, whom I share a flat with, telling me that the University of Bergen had come up with the brilliant idea of disconnecting our main-server. Our regular listeners may recall that this is not the first time this happens. Anyho; my interviews from Oslo this weekend could not be broadcasted, no intros, jingles, kontentums etc. Just CDs/LPs and talking. We-hey!

Eventually, the problem got fixed but we still couldnt access Digas (our editing-programme) so the show couldnt get recorded and consequently, not be put out for streaming. So; no online re-run this week Im afraid. Ive kept the show from last week on our sites and added the interviews from this week on M*space. If you understand Norwegian, be sure to check them out. They're both great!

Here's the playlist for this weeks show that was only aired live on the radio in Bergen:

AGGRESSO! # 26 - 23.09.09

1. TH' INBRED - FANTASY EXPRESS (Alternative Tentacles)

2. STAR FUCKING HIPSTERS - DESIGN (Alternative Tentacles)

3. FABS - PUNK IN 2009 (Arcadian Music Production/Indeco)
The old hippie/prog-rock theatre-musical-combo that possibly released Norways first punksingle under the pseudonym "Graxelaget" is out with a new CD; "Punk Out for Fans Only" which also contains an interview we did with them approx a year ago. Sorta disapointing but OK for nostalgia-purposes.

-. Interview McMARTIN & THE HAPPY-MEALS
played the Blitz-reopening in Oslo this weekend. Threw a hotdog into the audience during their set. Thats punk.

4. BART - HALLELUJAH (More Cowbell)
from their 10" split w/The Fall Aparts; "Wild as Anything". Releaseparty @ Hulen Saturday

5. DEFECTORS - IT'S YOU (Bad Afro/ME)
the Danish horror-surfers are playing the same place on Friday with support from local...

6. HINDENBÜRG ROCK N GRILL - TARZAN TARZAN TARZAN (demo)
...who also played the Emergenza-festival @ Garage on Wednesday. This is an unmastered version from their upcoming record.

-. Interview DAN, KORT PROSESS Part 1
the legends are back. What a concert! Blitz was packed (500+ people) and the band sounded fucking great. This interview is done with their quite drunken but also philosofical and contemplating bass-player. Part 2 next week.

7. DOMINIC - FAREWELL WELFARE (Fysisk Format)
Out with a new album, "Nord", which they had a releaseparty for in Oslo on Friday. Not sure about this album.

8. SUNDANCE KIDS - DEAD COWBOY (self rel)
French underground-surf presented by Maiken together with...

9. THEE MIGHTY CAESARS - COWBOYS ARE SQUARE (Damaged Goods)
...in the Surf's Up-column

10. BØYEN BENG - MORRA DI (Nakkeskudd/Sjakk Matt)
one of many previously unreleased tracks from the (Oslo underground-scene) Barrikadens celebration-album "The First 10 Years". Expect more from this the next few weeks.

We've gotten so many new discs in the post these last days, including Årabrots new album, The Sheckies, poppunk ala the Queers, from the US of A, Raised Fists newest effort (smoking!) aaand heaps more. Look forward to yet another packed edition of Aggresso! next week, which also will include part 2 of the interview with Kort Prosess and the Defctors. Hooray! Hopefully the streaming will be up by then.

This weeks show was pre-recorded on Tuesday as I was playing the Kaaken-festival in Trondheim on Wednesday evening. More on that next week, I picked up some awesome records. This weeks show was packed with new records. There was a shitload of concerts to advertise everywhere but in Bergen and we had part 2 of the very interesting and emotional interview I did with Dan from the legendary Kort Prosess. Part 1 is still up at our M*space-site btw. This weeks playlists looks like this:

AGGRESSO! # 27 - 30.09.09

1. FRANK TURNER - TRY THIS AT HOME (Epitaph/Tuba)
one of a few decent songs from "Poetry of the Deed", atleast according to Maiken.

2. THE SHECKIES - SORRY SO CYCO (Cabana)
these Americans claim they beat anorexia on the cover of "Go On A Diet EP". Nuff said I think.

3. STAR FUCKING HIPSTERS - THE CIVILIZATION SHOW (Alternative Tentacles)

4. ÅRABROT - THE MONEY WILL ROLL RIGHT IN (Fysisk Format/Diger)

"I Rove" is their newest and most experimental effort to date. 3 songs, one of them are almost 20 min long!

5. STINKY FINGERS - HELO! (Hit Me)
one of many Oslo-bands featured on the compilation "Rock Till We Stinks!", which I later learned is horribly misspelt deliberately

6. BLACK BLOOD WORLD - WE, SCAVENGERS (Nakkeskudd/Sjakk Matt)
another previously unreleased track from the "Barrikaden - The First 10 Years" comp. LP

7. BUZZCOCKS - ORGASM ADDICT (United Artists)
playing Garage, Oslo on Saturday

-. Interview KORT PROSESS Part 2
in part 2, Dan talks very enterainingly about their concert in Bergen in 1996 plus some other stuff

8. RAISED FIST - SLIPPING INTO COMA (Burning Heart/Tuba)
I never thought I would say this but their new album "Veil of Ignorance" is smoking!

9. THE DEFECTORS - CREEPY CRAWL (Bad Afro)
played Hulen on Friday. Maiken did an interview but forgot to press REC or something so instead we played this song from their newest album "Bruised and Satisfied"

10. BART - KILLING MACHINE (More Cowbell)
played Hulen on Saturday, the releaseparty for the "Wild As Anything" split 10" with The Fall Aparts, which this song is lifted from

11. LOVVERS - FOUR COUNT (Wichita/Tuba)
apparently, "Ocd Gogogo Girls" isnt as crazy and good as their last EP

12. PROBLEMS - DROWN (demo)
this new band from Oslo with members from Deat is not Glamorous and Raging Fugitives (RIP) sent us their demo-cassette and its killer. Yes, you read correctly, it's a CASSETTE. Holy gamoly.

13. STEROID FREAK PUSSY - SHUT YOUR MOUTH (Sprocket Science)
from the UK glam-punk-rockers "Conquer & Divide" EP

Next week we'll warm up to both Übertøs @ Garage and Cumshots @ Hulen, possibly with ticket giveaways to the latter since the former is free. Loadsa great discs from Lycka Till (Umeå), Svartsyn (Trondheim), Los Fastidios (Italy), more from Raised Fist (Swe), The Sheckies (US) and the Ben Weasel/The Max Levine Ensemble split 7" where Weasels side is made up out of him critizising the latter on his radioshow. Thats gotta be fun. Stay tuned!

A bit too late, this weeks playlist looks like this:

AGGRESSO! # 29 - 14.10.09

1. MONGO NINJA - KIDS WITH TITS (Indie Recordings/Indie)
2. LYCKA TILL - SEAN BONNETTE OCH JAG (self rel)

one of many fantastic songs from the fantastic self-titled CD-R from this fantastic Umeå-trallpunkband
3. MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE - YOU'RE ART MONK AND I'M TELLING EVERYONE (Fuck You Is A Seven Letter Word)
more from the "Ben Weasel" 7", I guess this is a reply to the stuff from the same 7" we played last week
4. RAISED FIST - KEEPING IT TO YOURSELF (Burning Heart/Tuba)
5. SVARTSYN - UTE AV SINN (self rel)

this Trondheim-metalcore act's debut CD is entitled "Tolv Steg til Elendighet" and they were the featured band in the Norwegian Punk-column this week
6. BRUTAL KUK - ØYE (MLW)
and this woz the classic
7. FORTUNE TELLERS - BACK TO YOU (Copase Disques)
playing Back to Beat's 2 year anniversary @ Inside Saturday. This is from their new 7" "Don't Tell Me The Words"
8. STREET DOGS - INTO THE VALLEY (Hell-Cat/Tuba)
playing John Dee in Oslo Friday
9. TH' INBRED - PACKAGED TIME (Alternative Tentacles)
10. NO FRIENDS - NEVER ENDING FIGHT (No Idea/Recess)

debut-CD from these Descendents-sounding Americans. Maiken has the details.
11. JOINTPOP - PLEASE DON'T TELL MY INLAWS (I'M AN OUTLAW)
ladies & gentlemen; all the way from fucking Trinidad & Tobago; it's Jointpop! Obviously, the first track off their double A-sided single was the main-feature in the Forroners Punk-column
12. LOS FASTIDIOS - NON E' QUESTIONE DI STILE (KOB/Mad Butchers)
and this track from the Italians newest CD "All' Arrembaggio" was the second feature in the same column
13. CUMSHOTS - TINY CROSSES (Rodeostar/Indie)
played a pretty cool set @ Hulen last Wednesday.

Back next week, same time & place. Stay tuned!

This weeks playlist from your favourite Norwegain punkrock radioshow looks like THIS:

AGGRESSO! # 30 - 21.10.09

1. NO FRIENDS - WE'VE GOT NO FRIENDS (No Idea/Recess)

thats us
2. LOS FASTIDIOS - HOOLIGIRL (KOB/Mad Butcher)
3. LYCKA TILL - LA LA LA (self rel)

both these Swedes and Los Fastidios proves that you dont need clever words to be catchy
4. SVARTSYN - ÅPENT SÅR (self rel)
5. PINK DIRT - FIKSER IKKE LIVET (Hit Me)

from the "Rock Till We Stinks"-comp, rel.party this week in Oslo
6. BLOOD COMMAND - PARTY ALL THE WAY TO THE HOSPITAL (Loyal Blood/Fysisk Format/Diger)
from the second 10" from this very popular and hip anti-hipster hipster-posthardcore-combo from Bergen.
7. FOURTUNE TELLERS - DONT TELL ME THE WORDS (Copase Disques)
played Back to Beats 2nd anniversary @ Inside Sat. Maiken was sick so no interview
8. PU55YF00T1 - CREATURE (demo)
Helene (or "Mini'en" as she also calls herself) from Jet Jaguars new band. Maiken has the details.
9. DOMINIC - GET RICH AND DIE TRYING (Fysisk Format/Diger)
playing NG2 on Friday
10. THE SHECKIES - PARANOID TOGETHER (Caban-O-Phonic)
this song is about falling in love with a 14-year old. I have a 14 year old friend who didnt reveal her age untill a couple of months into our relationship, making it a funny story to tell on the air. So funny that it will be replayed in "Brunch" who plays the best from the last week on the Studentradio. Hoo-ray!
11. DUCKWALK CHUCK - NASTY WOMEN (self rel)
these Stavanger-based Motörhead-clones sent us their latest release, "Rebel" EP. Maiken likez.
12. MONGO NINJA - LIKE FUCKING ON METH (Indie Recordings/Indie)
13. THE DUPONTS - SCREAMIN BALL (AT DRACULA HALL) (Ace/Bonnier Amigo)

this classic from 1958 (recorded on Friday Feb 13th I might add) sets the standard for next weeks show; a Halloween-special with live-guests and loadsa gruesome music. Local psychobillsters Roadkill and Rolf Royce (Fuzz radioshow, HellHikers) are bringing tales of horror and sounds of sin to the show. Can't wait! And I have a surprise for y'all as well, Maiken included.

Re-run is up at www.srib.no and www.myspace.com/aggressoradio

This weeks show was pre-recorded on Tuesday since Maiken was playing a gig Wednesday night. Couple a new interesting records this week, some of them on the borderline of whats "acceptable" for a punkrock radioshow. But hey, Aggresso!s never been about conformity and even tho the indie-bands might not neccesarily need the promo from us, our listeners might need something more than crust, garage and punk oi oi! So open up your mind (and your anal-hole) before you check out the rerun of this weeks edition of your favourite Norwegian punkrock radioshow. Heres the playlist:

AGGRESSO! # 33 - 11.11.09

1. FENCE - TOMPKINS SQUARE PARK (Eat the rich or die tryin'/Diger/Støy)

2. CONVERGE - DARK HORSE (Epitaph/Tuba)
from the insane new album "Axe to Fall"

3. PER CAPITA - MY LIFE (self rel)
cover of the Sick of it All-classic

4. TROUBLEMAKERS - BLÅ (Svindel)

5. MOB 47 - DOM LJUGER (self rel)

playing Barrikaden, Oslo Saturday

6. ASTA KASK - EUROPEER (Burning Heart/Tuba)
playing UFFA, Trondheim Saturday

7. HINDENBÜRG ROCK 'N GRILL - DREPER (demo)
played a free show @ Garage Wednesday

8. SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE - THE EMPEROS NEW CLOTHES (Burning Heart/Tuba)
their second effort "The Devil on Nobel Street" is slightly more indie than their previous effort but still kicks ass with its harmonic melodies and epic and supercatchy song-structures

9. GRINGO BANDIDO - LIGHT ME UP (Borderline/Svindel)

10. THIS CITY - PICTURE THIS (Epitaph/Tuba)
"We Were Like Sharks" is the brits' second release. Melodic indie-hardcore with 80's NYHC-vocals on top. Not sure what to think for now but not bad.

11. DVERGPORNOKLUBBEN - ØLBRILLER (Svindel)
the main-feature in this weeks Norwegian Punk-column. From their debut EP "Vi Leker Ikke Klubb"

12. THE ALLER VÆRSTE - BARE IKKE NOK (LIVE)
the classic in the same column, recorded live with "Kringkastningsorkesteret" @ Spellemann-awards in 1981 when the band won the award for best "new-rock album". A piece of Norwegian punkrock history!

13. THE CRAMPS - THE CRUSHER (IRS)
Maikens token classic, we simply didnt have enough new AND interesting records this week. Holy cow!

As usual, we're back next week, warming up to the Woggles @ Hulen, the annual Bodø Hardcore festival and with loadsa great discs. Remember to check out the rerun at www.srib.no or www.crapspace.com/aggressoradio where you also will find the featured bands on our topfriends-list. Cheerioh!

Drink up thy zider, drink up thy zider, for tonight we'll marry be. We'll knock the milkmaids over and roll'em in the clover. The corns half cut and so are we!

Hm. Stod ingenting om det på Uffa.no men synes det var litt rart at det ikke var kommet en konsert-post på 800grader heller. Jau jau. Skulle likt å sett oppvarminsbandet Religiøs Voldtekt da. Grisebra navn.

Maiken took the evening off for some school-work, thus resulting in me dedicating the first song to her (no punkpoints)
Jon Smør from Back to Beat stepped up to the plate and brought with him some awesome garage-records. We gave away concert-tickets to The Woggles and all in all it was a pretty great show.

AGGRESSO! # 34 - 18.11.09

1. DVERGPORNOKLUBBEN - PØNKEPOENG (Svindel)

2. THIS CITY - WE MOVE (Epitaph/Tuba)
3. THE WOGGLES - ROCK N ROLL BACKLASH (Wicked Cool)

played Hulen Thursday night, supported by local Team Blitzkrieg. We gave away tickets to 2+2 lucky winners.
4. KING KHAN & BBQ SHOW - ZOMBIES (In the Red)
apparently arrested for "possession of controlled substances" last week. This track is from "What's for dinner?" from 2006
5. THE WOGGLES - BULLFROG (Wicked Cool)
from "Tempo Tantrum" released this year
6. BEINKJØR - MOTORHUE (I Eat)
Beinkjør isnt playing this weekend but the Motörhead-tribute band Bömbers is, at Hulen on Friday, and this song sounds alot like Motörhead
7. DOMINIC - THE MARCH (Dead Letter/Great Northern)
playing Bodø Hardcore festival on Saturday
-. Intervju Julius Diesen - Bodø Hardcore Festival
we had a brief chat with one of the persons in charge of the festival about booking, defining hardcore and, of course, the legendary after-party from 2007 where yours truly greeted the cops wearing nothing but a boxer-shorts and a pair of shoes, playing anti-police singalongs
8. MØRKT KAPITTEL - DEN MORDERNE TID (demo)
also playing BHCF Sat.
9. SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE - THE DEVIL ON NOBEL STREET (Burning Heart/Tuba)
10. JOKKE & VALENTINERNE - TO FULLE MENN (LIVE) (Sonet)

a Norwegian classic from the brand new "Levende (Så Lenge det Varer)" livealbum, recorded @ Sentrum Scene, Oslo 23.12.96. Expect more from this in the following weeks
11. THE IGUANAS - AGAIN AND AGAIN (Norton)
Iggy Pops first band. He played the drums! One of Jons featured band in the Surf's Up column for this week
12. THE A-BONES - GERALDINE (Norton)
the second Jon-classic in Surf's Up
13. CONVERGE - CRUEL BLOOM (Epitaph/Tuba)

Next week Maikens back hopefully - with a full report from the Woggles. I have a cassette from a fresh US HC-band, we're expecting some discs from the always lovely Engineer Recs and also its the second-last ordinary show before Xmas-break so if you want your release to be considered for the "best of the 2nd part of 2009"-bit, you gotta hurry up. Mate.

Oh, the reun is up at the usual places

Maiken was back this week (thank goodness), we gave away tickets to Haust & Blood Command @ Hulen and we talked so much we didnt get time to air my report on metal vs. punk. I attended The Big Heavymetal Fest Saturday and was amazed how dedicated and laidback metalfans were. Also, the fans spend more money on music/merch than idealistic punx and have a much broader appeal. I was considering converting. Untill I got hit on by a guy. Here's this weeks playlist:

Aggresso! Playlist # 35 - 24.11.09

1. TROUBLEMAKERS - MIN EGEN REVOLUTION (Svindel)

Maiken had a pretty good excuse for not being in the studio last week. She was working on her own revolution.
2. ESKATOL - KNEBLET (Kjepp Kjappesens Raske Skiver/Diger)
their debut-CD "Blodørn" (Blood Eagle) has got some pretty questionable aspects to it but all in all Im pretty sure this Oslo-based political metalcore band arent secret rightwing-sympathizers. Comes complete with all the tracks from the 12" split with Black Blood World.
3. FENCE - MORNING SON (Eat the rich or die tryin'/Diger/Støy)
4. THE CASUALTIES - NIGHTMARE (SideOneDummy/Tuba)

www.yourscenesucks.com - check out the "up the punx"-character and see if you can find the link to the above song. Perhaps thats why Casualties reported us to M*space for uploading their song without the right permission. Wankers.
5. BLOOD COMMAND - 5 INCHES OF A CAR ACCIDENT (Loyal Blood/Kontrabande/Black Soul Family)
Playing Hulen Friday night w/Haust. We gave away tickets to 2 lucky winners + one friend each. How cool are we?
6. SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE - GET OUT OF BED (Burning Heart/Tuba)
so Tuseday it was one year since I had a small breakdown and realized I was lightly depressed. Sounds like a peach right? Well it isnt. If you think that, you've never been depressed. People throw that word around like its a broken nail or something. When you cant get out of bed and you dont know why, thats when you know something is wrong. So this song was for myself.
7. SAIRAUS - BI-POLAR REACTION (demo)
the second (!) cassette we've received this year, this one all the way from Los Angeles, USA. Pretty darn cool hardcore. Too bad there's only 2 tracks on "A Siege of Sickness". Oh well.
8. GERMS - LEXICON DEVIL (Rhino/Warner Bros)
playing Garage, Oslo Sunday.
9. JOKKE & VALENTINERNE - HVIS JEG VAR DEG (LIVE) (Sonet)
the tributeband to Jokke, Valentourettes, are playing all over the place now before Xmas.
10. GRINGO BANDIDO & THE FAB FOUR - CARLOS COUNTRY CLUB (Borderline)
we didnt realize untill this week that they'fre also called "& The Fab Four". Still a fantastic CD tho.
11. THE ORIGINAL ROCKRIDGE BROTHERS - ROCKINGHAM CINDY (Red Rocking)
from the promo edt. of the 2008-release "Rockridge Hollerin'". The Swedes sent us this disc hoping to be booked to next years Phonofestival. We'll see, we'll see. In the meantime, Maiken had them as the main-feature in the Surf's Up-column.
12. TH' LEGENDARY SHACK SHAKERS - BLOOD ON THE BLUEGRASS (Bloodshot)
This weeks token "classic" in the same column. From Cockadoodledon't from 2003.
13. DVERGPORNOKLUBBEN - FAMILIEFEST (Svindel)

So next week is the last ordinary show for 2009. During then and mid-January we'll air 3 "best of the rest of 2009"-shows (read: Aggresso!s X-mas specials) so stay tuned to see what records/shows and other shit was our favourites from the second part of two-o-nine.
The rerun of this show is up at the usual places. Until next week; cockadoodledon't!

Hey ho!

As usual, when a semester (or 6 months) has passed, we take a few weeks off and air pre-recorded reruns aka special editions of the show where we summarize the best records and shows from the last semester. The mentioned parties below are the last 6 months absolute best shows we've attended and absolute best releases we've recieved. Dont forget to read the comments below the playlists. Maiken took an early holiday this year so I have yet to receive her comments but if you keep checking back at our Myspace, Im sure they will emerge faster than you can say ibsensripsbærbuskerogandrebuskvekster. If you're in a band/label that wants to use the comments, feel free to do so but remember its nice to get the quoting as well. Thanx.

Newsflash: as the Studentradio has taken over the frequence, our air-slot has been changed to WEDNESDAYS 1300-1400. Re-run Friday at 9pm I think. But for all you international listeners the show will still be put up on M*space and srib.no as soon as the liveversion has been aired.

I think that was it. If you find any mistakes, its ok, you can keep them. Oh, and we're back on the air this Wednesday at 13:00 with loadsa new discs, giveaways from Engineer Recs and a full update from whats been going on since early December. Here's the playlists:

RECORDS:

VARIOUS ARTISTS - HURRA FOR NORGE VOL.4 - NORSK PØNKRÅKK 1978-1988 (Svindel)

Im not exactly sure when this was released but Andreas from Svindel gave it to me right before we went on a summer-break and seeing vol.4 yet again compiles some pretty rare and classic treasures from the Norwegian Punkrock History, there's no way we could not include this. Songs from Pink Dirt, Kjøtt, Oslo Børs, Kafka Prossess, Wannskrækk, Svart Framtid and many, many more. 34 bands in total actually. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/hurrafornorge
Featured track: Front Page - I Dont Want Your Love

VARIOUS ARTISTS - UMEÅ PUNK CITY (Youth/Ung och Aktiv i Europa)

This summer, the hardcorecapitol of the world, the small town of Umeå in North-Sweden, released this compilation with 30+ active bands together with a giant newspaper with interviews with the bands. I have no idea where my copy of the paper went as I picked it up while on tour and, um, "sure, lend my [insert object here]" sort of explodes into new meanings in a tourvan BUT I managed to hang on to the CD and who wouldve thought, without prior knowledge of course, that the punkscene in Umeå can be this varied and great at the same time? I mistakenly thought it was all about chugga-chugga metalcore so fuck me. If you like ANY sort of punkrock/hardcore, you're obligated to get this (BM)

http://umeapunkcity.blogspot.com/
Featured track: Regulations - Different Needs

ANTI-FLAG - THE PEOPLE OR THE GUN (SideOneDummy/Tuba)

Before you jump my throat accusing me of promoting sellout-punkrock music, take 2 seconds and think about the fact that this band, just like CRASS, donates a whole lotta money to charity and hosts benefitshows for lesser priveliged people than themselves. How many of your PC-crustbands (god bless em) can you say does the same? Anyways, the music is still the same as before; energetic catchy singalong-friendly poppunk with hooks, swell production and a clever message. Or what do you think of a songtitle like "The Economy is Suffering ... Let it Die" ? Or "No War Without Warriors (How Do You Sleep?)" ? This album r-o-c-k-s. (BM)

http://www.anti-flag.com
Featured song: Sodom, Gomorrah, Washington DC (Sheep in Shepherds Clothing)

BLOOD COMMAND - PARTY ALL THE WAY TOP THE HOSPITAL (Loyal Blood/Fysisk Format/Diger)

Sometimes its good to see that there exists justice in this world. Finally, the very hard-working Yngve Andersen from Jeroan drive/Warlight/etc. made it with one of his many projects. Blood Command mixes indie, hardcore and pop-elements like no-one before, the female vocals from Silje being the X-factor I believe. Both undergournd-puritants like myself, hipsters and "well-respected" music-journos have embraced the trio which also features either Manheads or Social Suicide on additional instruments when playing live. Like they did so many times these last 6 months, the homecoming gig @ Garage 29.10 being the most outstanding one. I wasnt sure wether to put their second out of three EPs or this show in the headline so I just took the former for some reason. But make no mistake; the Garage-gig was defintively one of this years best! (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/bloodcommand
Featured track: Double T 'N' Tokyo

DVERGPORNOKLUBBEN - VI LEKER IKKE KLUBB EP (Svindel)

Funny, dirty, young and snotty - DvergPornoKlubben (The Midget Porn Club) doesnt play around on their debut-release. All the great songs from this springs demo is here. This is probably as good as Norwegian punkrock gets these days. No bull. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/dvergpornoklubben
Featured track: Dvergpornoklubben

LOS FASTIDIOS - ALL ARREMBAGGIO (KOB/Mad Butcher)

The hard-working/touring and long-living antifascist Italians are back with a more mellow release without dissapointing at all. It just takes a couple of listens before it hits. 50/50 Italian/English choruses as usual, backed up by swell production and dynamic streetpunk. (BM)

http://www.losfastidios.com
Featured track: Hooligirl

MONGO NINJA - ...AND THE WRIST IS HISTORY (Indie)

Imagine if the Cumshots started playing punk - this is what you'd get. Much becoz frontman Max Cargo/Kristopher Schau is doing the vocals in both bands and they're both much sentered around his persona - and that's not a bad thing. Except for the Cumshots, whos newest album didnt make it to our best of list at all becoz of MJ. Talk about knocking yourself out. Anypo; these guys seem like they want to die the hardest way imaginable and they want to take as many with them in the process. If you survive, you're stuck with this; a depressingly nihilistic viewpoint on the world. Not for the faint-hearted. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/mongoninja
Featured track: Gotta Get Drunk

PROBLEMS - DEMO 09 (self rel)

When Aggresso! started in 2001, we recieved a cassette from an American band which we never played. Now, 8 years later, we recieved 2 cassettes in 1 month. One of them are from this Oslo-quartet consistent of musicians from bands like Death is Not Glamorous, Raging Fugitives, Evolve, Susie Cain ++ and one could claim that they combine the best of these bands in one effort. I know I like Christian from DINGs vocals better when they're rawer, like this. And this is closer to the old version of Raging Fugitives that I enjoyed more than the new. But all that said and done, Problems are kicking ass nomatter what. Tapes are all gone but its available for downloading. And a 10-song 7" is in the works. Cant wait. (BM)

http://fuckproblems.blogspot.com/
Featured track: The Game

RAISED FIST - VEIL OF IGNORANCE (Burning Heart)

There arent many records that make you angry and mellow at the same time, amazed over the bands music-skills, discover hidden vocals in a leadsingers seemingly monoton voice AND psyched about a band you havent checked out for 10 years. This one does. (BM)

http://www.raisedfist.com
Featured track: Words and Phrases

THE SHECKIES - GO ON A DIET EP (Caban-O-Phonic)

These 3 lads from New Jersey seem to add every new friend the Queers get on Myspace. Good on em! Coz they're almost better than them. Anyho, thats how I found them and after 6 months of asking for a copy of their EP, I finally got it. Six brilliant popunk-songs about the usual stuff; love, Star Wars and messageboards. And falling for 14-year old girls. If you like they Queers you'll friggin love this! (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/thesheckies
Featured track: Paranoid Together

SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE - THE DEVIL ON NOBEL STREET (Burning Heart/Tuba)

I didnt know exactly what to expect when I got this from Tuba. I couldnt really remember their debut-effort and it all looked and sounded a bit boring. At first. But thats when I remembered I actually LIKE this indie-shite. Holy cow what an album! From the brilliant opening title-track to the genious "The Emperors New Clothes" through the self-explanatory "Get out of Bed" to the closing-track, the eerie "1993", this album reeks of musical perfection and mental inballance. Go get. (BM)

Featured track: The Devil on Nobel Street

SHOWS/CONCERTS/OTHER HAPPENINGS:

AGGRESSO! HALLOWEEN-SPECIAL 28.10

We're not more modest than rewarding ourselves with a place on the list for the last 6 months' most interesting events. The special edition of our weekly show, usually consiting of new music, news, interviews and the regular columns, was Maikens idea. I weas sceptic at first but since we didnt have any new records to play that week anyways, I agreed. And what a show it was! Roadkill did a scary/funny/intellectual interview, we played one ghastly classic after the other, Rolf from HellHikers and Fuzz-infamy gave us the lowdown on his projects and Halloween in general and I also got to critizise the whole damn thing with hastily-made report that actually got replayed on the radios music-meeting. Lets do it again next year, shall we? (BM)

Featured tracks: interview Roadkill, 28.10 and a critical report on Aggresso!s Halloween-special, 28.10

BEN WEASEL VS. THE MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE audio-clip

I had just read about this before I met MLE-leadsinger Spoonboy at a house-show in Trondheim (read about it below). The Screeching Weasel-legend had used 10mins of his radioshow to diss The Max Levine Ensemble, something the Wash. DC-boys did not let go unnoticed on their next release, the The Max Levine Ensemble Vs. Ben Weasel "split" 7" - kinda like the Voodoo Glow Skulls/Hickey-"split" 7" in the 90's (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hickey_(band)#Voodoo_Glow_Skulls_controversy) So this is from that. Words are kinda pointless at this point. Go check it out allready! (BM)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Max_Levine_Ensemble
Featured track: Ben Weasel Vs. The Max Levine Ensemble

BJARTE HARASSED ONLINE audio-clip

And when I write "harassed", I mean that in the nicest way possible. I was pushing thirty and adding Myspace-friends all over for my bands upcoming mini-tour in Sweden when some 18 year old girl from Canada wrote back how much she liked our music. We ended up talking on MSN and couple of months down the line we talked about hooking up at a Swedish festival coz she was gonna visit her Swedish grandparents. Little did I know...
So one day she said she had to log off coz she was going to school and we started talking about it. Something didnt seem right. Guess what? She was only 13.
But she's still one of the smartest and most interesting people I talk to online. I dunno if that says more about me, the internet, age-differences in Norway/Canada or what. But still.
(This audio-clip was also "brunched", i.e. played in the year-summarisation of Brunch who playes the best from the Studentradios programmes).(BM)

HÅL IN THE SKO(MAKERGATA) 3-FESTIVAL @ INSIDE 3.-4.12

This oddly-titled punkrock-festival has managed what no-ones really managed in Bergen before; build a festival and brand a name that sticks. Without trying too hard either. Just a couple of friends booking the bands they like and play some great music in between. The 2nd edt. of this festival was probably better but that one lasted 3 days. And finished on a Saturday. And they didnt hand out gingerbread-men that time either = increased costs. So there. Yeah, and both Maiken and myself played at the festival so we're basically justy full of ourselves. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/holeinthesko
Featured track: interview Jon & Knut, Hål in the Sko-festival, 02.12

KORT PROSESS @ BLITZ 18.09

Crappy noise, instrumental problems and some crappy bands made me single out Kort Prosess from the Blitz-reopeningfestival the 18th and 19th of September. There were some other decent bands too, obviously, but no-one could touch the reformed Halden-boys. This band came out with 2 legendary 7" in 93 and 94 and a not-so-legendary 7" in 97 before disbanding and disappearing into bands like TOAMOL, Hevn and others. Too bad they're not playing any more gigs in Norway before disbanding again coz this was seriously good. Shivers litterarily went down my spine when they started on the intro from the 1993 7". And after that no-one cared they did some minor mistakes or had gained so much weight they'd dubbed themselves Fat Prosess. Not one bad song was played and Im honored to have witnessed this, as Im sure the rest of the 500+ crowd was too. The interview with bassist Dan suffered under some poor sound-quality and too much alcohol being consumed but all in all, an honest and sentimental talk with one of Norwegian hardcores forgotten legends. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/kortprosess
Featured track: interview Dan, KORT PROSESS, 23.09 & 30.09

LIVSTID w/friends @ GARAGE 09.10

When Disfear cancelled their tour AGAIN, the supportband in Bergen Livstid took it upon themselves to host an evening of free and very varied music. Everything from acoustic punk and indiepop to shoegaze and, ehr, something I cant remember, was presented and Livstid closed the ballet with yet an outstanding set. Their new release is on the way and I cant wait. In the meantime; more of these shows guys! (BM)

Featured track: Kriminell

LYCKA TILL @ KÅKEN-FESTIVALEN, TRONDHEIM 30.09

Last summer, my good friend Erik invited me up to Trondheim to play at the infamous Kåken-festival at his friends' place and I said yes after a bit to and fro. I missed my plain and had to get new tickets for a pretty high amount of money but I bever regretted going. I got to see some of the coolest bands; Spoonboy from The Max Levine Ensemble, Two Fighters Against A Star Destroyer (Eriks soloproject, going on tour together this summer) and the outstanding Lycka Till from Umeå, Sweden. They didnt have their drums but kicked some serious ass. Singalongs from wall to wall and a good atmosphere all over. What a band! Oh, they play folk-punk by the way. Check it out allready. (BM)

http://www.myspace.com/lyckatillumea
Featured track: La La La

PHONOFESTIVAL @ VARIOUS LOCATIONS, 9.-12.09

Perhaps not the best FESTIVAL for me but the punk-evening went pretty swell. Again Social Suicide came, rocked like nothing else and never looked back. What a fucking great liveband! I think Di Kjipe attracted most of the audience this night and they gave them they're moneys worth too. Closing band Lame Ducks proved that the elders are the oldest and that they still can cut it, even after a 4 year hiatus. A very varied evening, loadsa people and a big F.U. to whoever was responsible for screwing around with my plans for this year. (BM)

SENTRAL-FESTIVAL @ UNGDOMSHUSET 1880, 6.-7.11.

2 days of age-free, non-alcoholic hardcore, punkrock and indie in the middle of Bergen? I was so there. The city-run youthhouse 1880 was packed from start to finish. Silver and Purified in Blood headlined but it was Social Suicide and Bart that stole the victory in my book. SS just keeps getting better and better and Bart once again proved they are a band for almost any ocation (except for the pub in Grimstad where they got thrown off stage after 2 or 3 songs). The performance peaked when they played the ironicly-titled "Hallelujah" to a crowd consistent of almost just christians. Amazing. Too bad there was just a handful of people over 20 years there. You truly missed out on some great bands and musicians and a fantastic audience. Here's to next year! (BM)

Allright, first show of 2010 over and done with. Im pretty pleased with myself. After I created a Facebook-account, the amount of listeners on Myspace have allready (10hrs after posting) matched the usual total-amount. Not much but it says alot.
Almost only new discs this week as this was the first show after a month-log break. Go check out the re-run allready! And you can still win the CDs that we gave away on the show. Check our blog for details.
Oh, I just realized I cut away the dialouge before the last song. Fixing tomorrow.

AGGRESSO! #1 - 13.01.10

1. SUBHUMANS - IT'S GONNA GET WORSE (Bluurgh/Southern/Tuba)

this week Bergen is the most polluted city in Europe. I introduced this years first show with the promise to pollute the air even more. AIR-waves. Geddit? Ehr... It's gonna get worse for sure.

2. FOUND DEAD IN TRUNK - COMBAT ZONE (75 or Less Recs/Dagger Promotions)
from the New England, CT-based hardcorebands album "Kerosene Cocktail"

3. LEISURE CLASS - WEEKEND PUNK (Brutarian Quarterfly/Dagger Promotions)
from the "We Went and Recorded it Anyway - The Best of Pop-Punk and Power Pop 1977-84"-collection. Self-explanatory title indeed.

3. JOSHUA - PERFECT MAN (Engineer)
from the "Baggage" EP, one of many fine discs from Engineer Recs you could win on todays show - and still can. Check our M*space-blog for details!

4. MISFITS - BLACKLIGHT (DEMO) (Roadrunner/Tuba)
not only did ex-Misfit Michale Graves team up with Marky Ramone last month but Georgeous Frankenstein also played support for Danzig Dec 26th. G.F. = Misfits American Psycho lineup minus Jerry Only of course

5. THE CLASH - JANIE JONES (Epic)
the "London Calling"-cover now also as a stamp!

6. SPEAKYOURHEART - UNDERSTAND THIS IS A DREAM: PART II (Engineer)
from the Eastbourne, UK-based emo/postcore/poppunkbands "This is How We Communicate"

7. GOD IS DEAD BUT HERE'S THE LONGJOHNS WITH THEIR GUIDE THROUGH THIS TOXIC JUNGLE - LONGJOHN SONG (demo)
played one of the best concerts the last month at Victoria.

8. BART - HI ACE OF SPADES (self rel)
same as Longjohns, only at Inside last Friday. In my 30th birthday party I might add.

9. MUMMIES - (YOU MUST FIGHT TO LIVE) ON THE PLANET OF THE APES (Estrus)
one of many fine coversongs presumably being played by Thee Rabbens at the free show at Garage tonight.

10. LOS CAMPESINOS - YOU! ME! DANCING! (Rough Trade)
from the brand new and kinda interesting "Rough Trade Shops Indiepop 09"-label sampler

(TRAKTOR - DANCE OR DIE)
supposed to follow up Los Campesinos but the CD-player didnt like the German CD-R. New attempt next week.

11. STRIVING HIGHER - FREEDOM LIES INSIDE (Engineer)
more from the pile of CDs you still can win.

12. VÄNSTERNÄVEN - NAZZEJÄVEL (Svindel)
12 (yes twelve) drunken Swedes playing straight-forward punkrock about nazis, security guards and alcohol - sounds like a great idea, right? You're damn straight, this fucking rocks! Less is more and so on. Featuring 2 members from Blisterhead and a ton of other bands.

13. THE SEPERATION - IN CARBON COPY (Engineer)
from the brand new "Retire Your Engines"

14. GATECRASHERS - HOUSE OF THE DEAD (Gestapo)
from Oslo with love. And sleaze 'n' glam. Debut is called "Rock N Roll Suicide" and is not bad. The band now also features Pelle Ramone and Tommy Lüger (Oslo rock n roll-legends)

New show next week. Maiken is back from Paris and brings a handful of new CDs. If you're planning on listening live, remember that we have a new time-slot now; 1300-1400 (GMT+1)
Tudelu!
