Hey ho!
As usual, when a semester (or 6 months) has passed, we take a few weeks off and air pre-recorded reruns aka special editions of the show where we summarize the best records and shows from the last semester. The mentioned parties below are the last 6 months absolute best shows we've attended and absolute best releases we've recieved. Dont forget to read the comments below the playlists. Maiken took an early holiday this year so I have yet to receive her comments but if you keep checking back at our Myspace, Im sure they will emerge faster than you can say ibsensripsbærbuskerogandrebuskvekster. If you're in a band/label that wants to use the comments, feel free to do so but remember its nice to get the quoting as well. Thanx.
Newsflash: as the Studentradio has taken over the frequence, our air-slot has been changed to WEDNESDAYS 1300-1400. Re-run Friday at 9pm I think. But for all you international listeners the show will still be put up on M*space and srib.no as soon as the liveversion has been aired.
I think that was it. If you find any mistakes, its ok, you can keep them. Oh, and we're back on the air this Wednesday at 13:00 with loadsa new discs, giveaways from Engineer Recs and a full update from whats been going on since early December. Here's the playlists:

10. FUCKED UP w/friends - DO THEY KNOW ITS CHRISTMAS? (self rel)RECORDS:VARIOUS ARTISTS - HURRA FOR NORGE VOL.4 - NORSK PØNKRÅKK 1978-1988 (Svindel)Im not exactly sure when this was released but Andreas from Svindel gave it to me right before we went on a summer-break and seeing vol.4 yet again compiles some pretty rare and classic treasures from the Norwegian Punkrock History, there's no way we could not include this. Songs from Pink Dirt, Kjøtt, Oslo Børs, Kafka Prossess, Wannskrækk, Svart Framtid and many, many more. 34 bands in total actually. (BM)

VARIOUS ARTISTS - UMEÅ PUNK CITY (Youth/Ung och Aktiv i Europa) This summer, the hardcorecapitol of the world, the small town of Umeå in North-Sweden, released this compilation with 30+ active bands together with a giant newspaper with interviews with the bands. I have no idea where my copy of the paper went as I picked it up while on tour and, um, "sure, lend my [insert object here]" sort of explodes into new meanings in a tourvan BUT I managed to hang on to the CD and who wouldve thought, without prior knowledge of course, that the punkscene in Umeå can be this varied and great at the same time? I mistakenly thought it was all about chugga-chugga metalcore so fuck me. If you like ANY sort of punkrock/hardcore, you're obligated to get this (BM)

ANTI-FLAG - THE PEOPLE OR THE GUN (SideOneDummy/Tuba) Before you jump my throat accusing me of promoting sellout-punkrock music, take 2 seconds and think about the fact that this band, just like CRASS, donates a whole lotta money to charity and hosts benefitshows for lesser priveliged people than themselves. How many of your PC-crustbands (god bless em) can you say does the same? Anyways, the music is still the same as before; energetic catchy singalong-friendly poppunk with hooks, swell production and a clever message. Or what do you think of a songtitle like "The Economy is Suffering ... Let it Die" ? Or "No War Without Warriors (How Do You Sleep?)" ? This album r-o-c-k-s. (BM)

BLOOD COMMAND - PARTY ALL THE WAY TOP THE HOSPITAL (Loyal Blood/Fysisk Format/Diger)Sometimes its good to see that there exists justice in this world. Finally, the very hard-working Yngve Andersen from Jeroan drive/Warlight/etc. made it with one of his many projects. Blood Command mixes indie, hardcore and pop-elements like no-one before, the female vocals from Silje being the X-factor I believe. Both undergournd-puritants like myself, hipsters and "well-respected" music-journos have embraced the trio which also features either Manheads or Social Suicide on additional instruments when playing live. Like they did so many times these last 6 months, the homecoming gig @ Garage 29.10 being the most outstanding one. I wasnt sure wether to put their second out of three EPs or this show in the headline so I just took the former for some reason. But make no mistake; the Garage-gig was defintively one of this years best! (BM)

DVERGPORNOKLUBBEN - VI LEKER IKKE KLUBB EP (Svindel)Funny, dirty, young and snotty - DvergPornoKlubben (The Midget Porn Club) doesnt play around on their debut-release. All the great songs from this springs demo is here. This is probably as good as Norwegian punkrock gets these days. No bull. (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/dvergpornoklubben Featured track: Dvergpornoklubben
LOS FASTIDIOS - ALL ARREMBAGGIO (KOB/Mad Butcher)The hard-working/touring and long-living antifascist Italians are back with a more mellow release without dissapointing at all. It just takes a couple of listens before it hits. 50/50 Italian/English choruses as usual, backed up by swell production and dynamic streetpunk. (BM)

MONGO NINJA - ...AND THE WRIST IS HISTORY (Indie)Imagine if the Cumshots started playing punk - this is what you'd get. Much becoz frontman Max Cargo/Kristopher Schau is doing the vocals in both bands and they're both much sentered around his persona - and that's not a bad thing. Except for the Cumshots, whos newest album didnt make it to our best of list at all becoz of MJ. Talk about knocking yourself out. Anypo; these guys seem like they want to die the hardest way imaginable and they want to take as many with them in the process. If you survive, you're stuck with this; a depressingly nihilistic viewpoint on the world. Not for the faint-hearted. (BM)

PROBLEMS - DEMO 09 (self rel)When Aggresso! started in 2001, we recieved a cassette from an American band which we never played. Now, 8 years later, we recieved 2 cassettes in 1 month. One of them are from this Oslo-quartet consistent of musicians from bands like Death is Not Glamorous, Raging Fugitives, Evolve, Susie Cain ++ and one could claim that they combine the best of these bands in one effort. I know I like Christian from DINGs vocals better when they're rawer, like this. And this is closer to the old version of Raging Fugitives that I enjoyed more than the new. But all that said and done, Problems are kicking ass nomatter what. Tapes are all gone but its available for downloading. And a 10-song 7" is in the works. Cant wait. (BM)
http://fuckproblems.blogspot.com/ Featured track: The Game
RAISED FIST - VEIL OF IGNORANCE (Burning Heart)There arent many records that make you angry and mellow at the same time, amazed over the bands music-skills, discover hidden vocals in a leadsingers seemingly monoton voice AND psyched about a band you havent checked out for 10 years. This one does. (BM)
http://www.raisedfist.com Featured track: Words and Phrases
THE SHECKIES - GO ON A DIET EP (Caban-O-Phonic)These 3 lads from New Jersey seem to add every new friend the Queers get on Myspace. Good on em! Coz they're almost better than them. Anyho, thats how I found them and after 6 months of asking for a copy of their EP, I finally got it. Six brilliant popunk-songs about the usual stuff; love, Star Wars and messageboards. And falling for 14-year old girls. If you like they Queers you'll friggin love this! (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/thesheckies Featured track: Paranoid Together
SOUNDS LIKE VIOLENCE - THE DEVIL ON NOBEL STREET (Burning Heart/Tuba)I didnt know exactly what to expect when I got this from Tuba. I couldnt really remember their debut-effort and it all looked and sounded a bit boring. At first. But thats when I remembered I actually LIKE this indie-shite. Holy cow what an album! From the brilliant opening title-track to the genious "The Emperors New Clothes" through the self-explanatory "Get out of Bed" to the closing-track, the eerie "1993", this album reeks of musical perfection and mental inballance. Go get. (BM)

SHOWS/CONCERTS/OTHER HAPPENINGS:AGGRESSO! HALLOWEEN-SPECIAL 28.10We're not more modest than rewarding ourselves with a place on the list for the last 6 months' most interesting events. The special edition of our weekly show, usually consiting of new music, news, interviews and the regular columns, was Maikens idea. I weas sceptic at first but since we didnt have any new records to play that week anyways, I agreed. And what a show it was! Roadkill did a scary/funny/intellectual interview, we played one ghastly classic after the other, Rolf from HellHikers and Fuzz-infamy gave us the lowdown on his projects and Halloween in general and I also got to critizise the whole damn thing with hastily-made report that actually got replayed on the radios music-meeting. Lets do it again next year, shall we? (BM)
Featured tracks: interview Roadkill, 28.10 and a critical report on Aggresso!s Halloween-special, 28.10
BEN WEASEL VS. THE MAX LEVINE ENSEMBLE audio-clipI had just read about this before I met MLE-leadsinger Spoonboy at a house-show in Trondheim (read about it below). The Screeching Weasel-legend had used 10mins of his radioshow to diss The Max Levine Ensemble, something the Wash. DC-boys did not let go unnoticed on their next release, the The Max Levine Ensemble Vs. Ben Weasel "split" 7" - kinda like the Voodoo Glow Skulls/Hickey-"split" 7" in the 90's (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hickey_(band)#Voodoo_Glow_Skulls_controversy) So this is from that. Words are kinda pointless at this point. Go check it out allready! (BM)

BJARTE HARASSED ONLINE audio-clipAnd when I write "harassed", I mean that in the nicest way possible. I was pushing thirty and adding Myspace-friends all over for my bands upcoming mini-tour in Sweden when some 18 year old girl from Canada wrote back how much she liked our music. We ended up talking on MSN and couple of months down the line we talked about hooking up at a Swedish festival coz she was gonna visit her Swedish grandparents. Little did I know...
So one day she said she had to log off coz she was going to school and we started talking about it. Something didnt seem right. Guess what? She was only 13.
But she's still one of the smartest and most interesting people I talk to online. I dunno if that says more about me, the internet, age-differences in Norway/Canada or what. But still.
(This audio-clip was also "brunched", i.e. played in the year-summarisation of Brunch who playes the best from the Studentradios programmes).(BM)

HÅL IN THE SKO(MAKERGATA) 3-FESTIVAL @ INSIDE 3.-4.12This oddly-titled punkrock-festival has managed what no-ones really managed in Bergen before; build a festival and brand a name that sticks. Without trying too hard either. Just a couple of friends booking the bands they like and play some great music in between. The 2nd edt. of this festival was probably better but that one lasted 3 days. And finished on a Saturday. And they didnt hand out gingerbread-men that time either = increased costs. So there. Yeah, and both Maiken and myself played at the festival so we're basically justy full of ourselves. (BM)

KORT PROSESS @ BLITZ 18.09Crappy noise, instrumental problems and some crappy bands made me single out Kort Prosess from the Blitz-reopeningfestival the 18th and 19th of September. There were some other decent bands too, obviously, but no-one could touch the reformed Halden-boys. This band came out with 2 legendary 7" in 93 and 94 and a not-so-legendary 7" in 97 before disbanding and disappearing into bands like TOAMOL, Hevn and others. Too bad they're not playing any more gigs in Norway before disbanding again coz this was seriously good. Shivers litterarily went down my spine when they started on the intro from the 1993 7". And after that no-one cared they did some minor mistakes or had gained so much weight they'd dubbed themselves Fat Prosess. Not one bad song was played and Im honored to have witnessed this, as Im sure the rest of the 500+ crowd was too. The interview with bassist Dan suffered under some poor sound-quality and too much alcohol being consumed but all in all, an honest and sentimental talk with one of Norwegian hardcores forgotten legends. (BM)

LIVSTID w/friends @ GARAGE 09.10When Disfear cancelled their tour AGAIN, the supportband in Bergen Livstid took it upon themselves to host an evening of free and very varied music. Everything from acoustic punk and indiepop to shoegaze and, ehr, something I cant remember, was presented and Livstid closed the ballet with yet an outstanding set. Their new release is on the way and I cant wait. In the meantime; more of these shows guys! (BM)

LYCKA TILL @ KÅKEN-FESTIVALEN, TRONDHEIM 30.09Last summer, my good friend Erik invited me up to Trondheim to play at the infamous Kåken-festival at his friends' place and I said yes after a bit to and fro. I missed my plain and had to get new tickets for a pretty high amount of money but I bever regretted going. I got to see some of the coolest bands; Spoonboy from The Max Levine Ensemble, Two Fighters Against A Star Destroyer (Eriks soloproject, going on tour together this summer) and the outstanding Lycka Till from Umeå, Sweden. They didnt have their drums but kicked some serious ass. Singalongs from wall to wall and a good atmosphere all over. What a band! Oh, they play folk-punk by the way. Check it out allready. (BM)

PHONOFESTIVAL @ VARIOUS LOCATIONS, 9.-12.09Perhaps not the best FESTIVAL for me but the punk-evening went pretty swell. Again Social Suicide came, rocked like nothing else and never looked back. What a fucking great liveband! I think Di Kjipe attracted most of the audience this night and they gave them they're moneys worth too. Closing band Lame Ducks proved that the elders are the oldest and that they still can cut it, even after a 4 year hiatus. A very varied evening, loadsa people and a big F.U. to whoever was responsible for screwing around with my plans for this year. (BM)

SENTRAL-FESTIVAL @ UNGDOMSHUSET 1880, 6.-7.11.2 days of age-free, non-alcoholic hardcore, punkrock and indie in the middle of Bergen? I was so there. The city-run youthhouse 1880 was packed from start to finish. Silver and Purified in Blood headlined but it was Social Suicide and Bart that stole the victory in my book. SS just keeps getting better and better and Bart once again proved they are a band for almost any ocation (except for the pub in Grimstad where they got thrown off stage after 2 or 3 songs). The performance peaked when they played the ironicly-titled "Hallelujah" to a crowd consistent of almost just christians. Amazing. Too bad there was just a handful of people over 20 years there. You truly missed out on some great bands and musicians and a fantastic audience. Here's to next year! (BM)
