Another 6 months have passed and that means your favourite Norwegian punkrock-radioshow have summarized the best in records, concerts and whatnot, giving the best of the best extended airplay and honorable mentions on our 3 X-mas specials. These are the last X-Mas specials in Aggresso!-history as Im calling it quits as of next summer so hope you'll enjoy everything and check out the bands you particulary care for. Personally, I've worked my ass off the last 5 months so that the show would be even better than normal. Dissapointing then that we didnt win one single award at this years X-Mas awards. I guess it says more about the increased level of the Studentradios high-quality work than about us, but still...
Some info and thoughts on next year below the comments-section. Here's to the last 6 months being the absolutely best in Aggresso!s 10 year history. Im confident it will!

RELEASES/DOWNLOADS:
V/A - BRANSJEVELTER # 5 (Fysisk Format)The little over 2 year old label has done it again; signed and compiled the very absolutely best of the alternative rock-Norway on one CD. Only a handful of bands are missing here as I see it but you can't really go wrong with a compilation with bands like Freedumb, Goonfight, Beinkjør, Feilfødt, Knuste Ruter, Bøyen Beng, Livstid, Siste Dagers Helvete, Common Cause, Evolve, Haust, Okkultokrati AND Årabrot. Can you? No you can't. (BM)

V/A - GERMS OF PERFECTION - A TRIBUTE TO BAD RELIGION (Spin/MySpace)A download-only tribute-album to one of the worlds longest-living punkbands. Love 'em or hate 'em, their impact on the music-world cant be argued with, which this compilation shows the diversity of. Featuring interpetations from punkbands like Guttermouth and, uhm, Citizens Arrest (here represented by Ted Leo) to singer/songwriters like Frank Turner and Wiliam Elliot Whitmore to indiebands like Tegan and Sara. Highly recommended! (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/music/blog/2010/ ... d-religionFeatured track: Wiliam Elliot Whitmore - Don't Pray on MeBAD RELIGION - THE DISSENT OF MAN (Epitaph/Tuba)Proving that you don't have to change a winning formula to impress, the 15th album from the American godfathers of punk rock delivers exactly what made the band so popular in the first place: fast, driving punk rock with well-written, intense lyrics about politics, humanity and religion. Some might criticize Bad Religion for not re-inventing themselves, but I think that this album gives me exactly what I want and need from the band. (MA)
http://www.badreligion.comFeatured track: The Day The Earth StalledBEINKJØR - SKOT OG SKRØMT (I Eat/Fysisk Format)
From the deepest of Sogn & Fjordane-county comes Beinkjør. Now based in Bergen, they are out with their 4th album, the 2nd as a full band. The 2 first CD-R albums were without bass and with a drum-machine and gave them a pretty high star in the punkscene in Norway. Their previous effort "Rock for Rus" showed a progressed band and "Skot & Skrømt" takes the progression even further as it combines straight-forward punkrock-tunes Beinkjør-style like "Lærdal Rebel Rock n Roll Radio" and "Ørjan" with more sophisticated rock-songs like "Lydia" and "Det Lærdalske Lette Infanterikompani" and even a lovely ballad entitled "Sumarsøg". It's hard to see how they can top this but Im sure they will. (BM)
http://www.beinkjor.com/Featured track: ØrjanFREEDUMB - THE FREEDUMB CURSE (Chimney)How many years can a band keep going before their debut-album comes out? Many, many years apparently. This Moss-based trio has been on and off several times in their career but seem to have finally got it together now after several smaller releases, tours and gigs. "The Freedumb Curse" consists of 13 heavy and melodic traditional Norwegian hardcore-influenced songs. And "Mareritt", which almost didnt make it on the album. One of Norways oldest hardcorebands (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/freedumbfromnorwayFeatured track: MarerittGOLDCRUSH - PROMO (self rel)I expected this Oslo-based band to sound exactly like every other Osloband, but I was pleasantly surprised. This was tight and well-played punkrock that reminded me a bit of 80's British oi! music. Fast-paced, melodic and catchy, the band is a refreshing addition to the surge of hardcorebands that have been popping up the last year. (MA)
http://www.goldcrush.noFeatured track: It Will Never ChangeGÖTTEMIA - SPLIT 12" w/LUCKY MALICE (Tonehjulet Kräftpest)Both sides of this wax-piece shows two very original bands with their punkrock-roots in order. I could not get a hold of the girlie-side as good as the Göttemia-side however, which is packed with super-furious, straight-to-the-point, maximum 2 minutes-songs, mostly about the "joys" of modern love and mankind (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/gottemiaFeatured track: HUMAN SUXKJØTT - COMPLETE BACK-CATALOUGEEarlier this fall it was announced that legendary Norwegian punk/post-punk band Kjøtt would make their entire back-catalouge available for download. Also made available were some of their compilation-only tracks, remixes and liverecordings. Christmas came early on November 1st. If this would be released on one release, something the band has stated will probably never happen, then it would've been the undisputable highlight of the year. But it's 2010 and dinosaurs like myself will just have to come to terms with the fact that this is (almost) just as proper as a CD or vinyl.* (BM)

Featured track: Nei Nei NeiTHE KNIGHTS OF THE NEW CRUSADE - KNIGHT VISION (Alternative Tentacles)At first I couldn't really figure out if this band really was deeply, horrifyingly religious or if it was just all a joke. To be honest I'm not 100 % convinced yet, despite the fact that they dress up as Templar Knights or the sheer insanity of their lyrics. However, they are really fun listening to. This sounds like gritty, dirty garagerock - really, really gritty - and it works great. So I've decided to like this band, just for the sheer novelty and the good riffs. (MA)
http://www.myspace.com/knightsofthenewcrusadeFeatured track: Tune in, Turn on, Drop DeadMONGO NINJA - NOCTURNAL NEANDERTHALS (Indie)After only existing for just a little over 1,5 years, this femme fata...eh, quite masculine quintet from Oslo have released no less than 3 full length-albums plus a live-album from Bergen, all in high punk-metal quality. With Kristoffer Schau from The Cumshots, Datsun and TV-fame on the gutteral vocals backed by a band with members formerly of Blood Tsunami and others. (BM)

Featured track: MotörheadacheNEMAS - IF WE COULD PLAY FASTER WE WOULD (self rel)A brilliant, super-catchy debut from these Swedes (from 2009 - ehrm!) whom we luckily discovered on one of the Hey Punk! DIY Recs-compilations this spring. Every song on this album is a goddamn hit and will leave you wanting more, I absolutely guarantee it. Too bad they split up (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/nemasFeatured track: SaturdaySISTE DAGERS HELVETE - HELE HELVETE (Fysisk Format)Originally released as "The Hell" in 1984 on a Finnish label and then illegally licensed to the German nazi-label Rock-O-Rama, this classic was first remastered and re-released on vinyl in 2005 (Cradle to Grave) with several bonustracks. The 2010 CD-version features all of this as well as liner-notes, lyrics and a recording of the entire concert from Under Brua in 2009. It doesnt get more classic than this! (BM)

Featured track: The Same EverydaySOCIAL SUICIDE - BROKEN PILGRIMS (Brilliance)Excellent record from Bergen finest young hardcore-band. The record was definitely one a powerdemonstration from the group, where they have created a new original sound. Right from the start with "Mail From the Watchtower", the recorded gets your attention. If you are tired of playing the same Black Flag records and want to check out something new, pick this record up. One of this year’s best. (KTS)
http://www.myspace.com/socialsuicidewebFeatured track: MartyriconSTARS BURN STRIPES - BUY NOW,PAY LATER (5 Feet Under)A very nice mini-album from these Copenhagen-boys. Positive, melodic hardcore that makes you wanna sing along with one fist in the air and the other around a glass of beer. Cant go wrong then, eyh? (BM)
http://www.starsburnstripes.comFeatured track: Straight to my HeadSUGAR LOUISE - PROMO SINGLE (Naked Hollywood)Only two songs from this band but they were so catchy, fun and well-produced that it made me hum them for days after listening. Exactly like good pop-punk should, this promo from Norwegian Sugar Louise managed to combine melodic verses with fun choruses without tipping over in the overly sappy. If Sugar Louise continues down this road we will play them a lot more in the future. (MA)
http://www.myspace.com/sugarlouiseFeatured track: Wastin' SummertimeSUPERCHUNK - MAJESTY SHREDDING (Merge/One-Four-Seven/Tuba)The 11th and comeback (sorta)-album from this North Carolina-quartet is a delight; super-catchy, high-energetic and hit-packed. Not only are they allergic to majorlabels but they're also pretty DIY. Can't go wrong then. (BM)
http://www.superchunk.comFeatured track: Crossed WiresTREVOLT - I ALL HAST (Heptown)Beautiful melodic trallpunk with several twists. Impressive debut from this Malmö-based band. The Swedes have done it again! (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/trevoltpunkFeatured track: VägvisareCONCERTS/FESTIVALS:BUZZCOCKS @ Kvarteret 13.09The old punkrock heroes in Buzzcocks played at Kvarteret early in September and delivered an amazing gig. I only got to check out the last part off their show due to the morons that was working at Kvarteret that day, but the part I managed to catch was definitely one of the best concerts this year. The old punks hasn't lost their edge and when the played their old classics Kvarteret was on fire. (KTS)
Sold-out, packed and tight sound with the british punk-legends. Almost a 100% ace evening hadnt it been for the fact that the venue wouldnt let us in on the journalist-guestlist as promised and I only caught the last 30mins or so. So no interview as "featured track". (BM)
http://www.buzzcocks.com/ CHIXDIGGIT @ Jacobs 26.102 days before the Hål in the Sko-festival started, Jacobs invited us all to see these Canadian in-between-songs rambling-champions. And this night was no exception. The "stage" was set right next to the bar (...) and the atmosphere was very intimate so the show lasted for a good 2 hours. Had they cut down on the chit-chat and on the set-list, this could've been a definet concert-highlight. So no "featured track" here either, mostly becoz Kaspar never got around to interview them. (BM)
http://www.myspace.com/chixdiggitGALLOWS, BLOOD COMMAND, SOCIAL SUICIDE @ Garage 23.08.I didn’t mange to catch Social Suicide, but I saw Blood Command which did good job supporting Gallows. But at that day Gallows didn't need much support at all. Gallows is by far one of the sweatiest gigs I've ever been to. The audience needed at little time catching up, but when they did, mayhem was unleashed upon Garage. Gallows used all the tricks you could imagine from playing in the audience to circle pits (the audience misunderstood that one) to creating a human pyramid. I managed to do a "Mira Craig"and stage dived when no people were paying attention and ended up upon the floor. We can file this concert under "you should have been there"-section. (KTS)
http://www.gallows.co.ukFeatured track: I Dread the NightTHE GHOST OF A THOUSAND @ Sentral Festival, 1880 05.11Great show on Sentral Festival. The audience was very bad when The Ghost of a Thousand played and their was a huge gap between the stage and the audience at points during the show. Never the less, the band gave delivered more than I expected and wasn't slowing down because of the bad audience. They delivered all in all a great gig with their mix between hardcore and rock. Catch them the next time they play, and hopefully the audience will better. (KTS)

Their show at the Phonofestival definitively showed that the hype around the band was well deserved. They delivered a great gig in front off a full audience with politically charged lyrics and an energetic stage show (KTS)

THE HÅL IN THE SKO-FESTIVAL @ Inside 28.-30.10.
Every 6 months or so, 2 Beinkjør-members will summon their friends' and friends friends' bands for a festival, titled as a parody of the major metal-festival Hole in the Sky. And every year it is a success! Record-breaking attendances, wonderful live-performances and lotsa, lotsa friendly, drunk faces. But nothing lasts forever, not even HiTS. Luckily they went out with a bang this year with the coolest line-up so far. And every single band delivered and then some. I was honored to play myself and to be a part of the whole thing, doing live-recordings, selling records and promoting the thing. Here's to Hål in the Sko 2011! (BM)

The room wasn’t full, but the ones that where attending got a real good gig. Their sound is quite unique and original and this band is definitively worth catching next time they play one of Bergens venues. (KTS)

disclaimer: this is my (Bjartes) band. However, it's not my fault that Kaspar likes us so much.VICTIMISED, OBNOXIOUS REMAINS, VESTINDIEN @ boat 27.11Originally this was supposed to be my first houseshow since May and the 6th in total. But the landlord called me the day before and notified me that they would evict me if I went through with the show, officially becoz of the noise-level and neighbour-concern. Ironically, the bar on the first floor in my building made a lot of noise that night and none of the neighbours have received the same threat when they have a party (unannounced, unlike my shows) but thats another story. So no more houseshows. After 8hrs on the phone, calling, texting and Facebook-messaging, Bønni from Thee Longjohns tipped me on a guy with a "boat" (I have no idea what "lekter" is in English but its kinda like a train-wagon thats used to ship containers, only for boat-traffic) just outside of the center of Bergen. Luckily, the owner agreed to do it with no restrictions or questions asked. After lotsa driving (mostly by the Obnoxious Remains-guitarist) to get the equipment, gas, power, beer and whatnot, the Bergen-punx stepped up to the plate and worked their asses off to get the show on the road. Victimised's plain-tickets had allready been paid for so there was really no turning back for me. The attendance was as high as the last record-breaking houseconcert and the sound was brilliant. Did I mention we were on water? Remarks like "best night/party ever" and "when is the next show?" was heard all evening. And I think everyone realized even more than before that with a little effort, some power and some beer, you can have a concert just about anywhere. The very definition of DIY & unite. (BM)
This was definitely one of the most punk experience that has hit Bergen in a long time. Originally the show was ment to be in a house but was moved to a boat near Vertfet. I would describe the show as the most logical day for the return off Jesus. All of the three bands delivered a great job and the audience was amazing. I could write a book about the concert. To put a hundred drunk punks and 3 bands on a boat was probably the best idea since the invention of the electric guitar. This is a show the people will talk about in the year to come and was definitely one of the best shows in 2010. (KTS)
Featured track: Obnoxious Remains - Hate (live) ÅRABROT & HAUST @ Kvarteret 18.09Great gig from the capitols finest and dirtiest musicians. Both the noiserock-group Årabrot and the alternative/punk/sludge/black metal group Haust managed to make Kvarteteret a very filthy place after they where done. Both bands played quite late so the place wasn't that packed, but the bands didn't seem to care about that. When Haust played "Skaterock" no-one in the room stod still, and the whole Årabrot show was one surreal noisy experience. Two great shows. (KTS)

OTHER STUFF:EUROPEAN TOUR-REPORT PARTS 1-9After returning from a 4,5 week long European tour with Two Fighters Against a Star Destroyer this summer, I immidiately started working on the tour-diary/reports. I felt this had to be documented, not only for personal reasons but also becoz I knew it would make good radio-entertainment. Also, I think it gave some people (especially our regular producer this fall) some insight in to what it's like touring in the underground, how easy and difficult it can be and how little people, especially your friends, actually care. We travelled through almost 20 countries, visited squatted farms, encountered police, got drunk with loadsa nice people, experienced the joys of walking around in Paris for 3 days with nothing to do and very little money and played for cats, dogs, babies, goats, drunks, punks, squares, crusties, tourists, hippies and hipsters. We lost more money than we earned (duh), got both physical and emotional scars and you can bet your ass I wanna go back out next summer! "If it was easy, everyone would do it." (BM)

Part 3 was selected on random, more or less. I will upload all parts 1-9 to the article on http://www.srib.no that features this e-mails' very content sometime during the holidays. Check our Facebook for updates on that or just check the site in a week or so. INTERVIEW WITH THE MISFITS PART 2One thing I've been realizing more and more the last few years is that the impact of the Misfits on the punkscene cannot be compared by anyone, Ramones, The Clash and Sex Pistols included. I mean, almost every god-damn punkband on the planet covers the Misfits once in their career. Hell, I even play in a Misfits-coverband myself. Sad to say then that the concert with The Misfits Saturday Sept 11th @ Verftet was one of the worst I ever attended. Even their make-up was bad, except for Jerry Onlys classic look. But the interview I did, set up by the very nice Sir Reg-manager Robban, was a definet highlight of the year. I cut out Dez Cadenas parts and squeezed all of Jerry Onlys rants into 3 sections, where section no.2 was "brunsjed", meaning it was one of the best pieces of work done on the Studentradio that week and therefore replayed on the "Brunsj"-program. In part 2, the bass-player and now leadsinger of the undisputable horror-punk pioners talks about the new record, which we later learned will be called "The Devil's Rain", and the bands relationship with directors Tim Burton and George A.Romero. (BM)
http://www.misfits.comINTERVIEW WITH VESTINDIENI went and talked to Vestindien before their upcoming show at the Hål in the Sko-festival. They talked about their inspiration, what they are planning to do the following year and the history behind their band name. (KTS)
http://www.myspace.com/vestindien665INTERVIEW WITH ÅRABROTI talked with Årabrot about their records, their producers, their names and about an interesting story from the road, involving a female roadie and a peeing contest. (KTS)

THE PHONOFESTIVALS AGGRESSO!-RADIOCAFÉ 09.09.10For the 2dn time in Aggresso!-history, we held a radiocafé. For those not familar with the term it means hosting a live radioshow with an audience, primariy at a club. On the Thursday of the Studentradios very own festival, yours truly gave the Kvarteret-audience a dosage of punk and hardcore in between music and interviews with bands from the festival - and then some. Maiken glued it all together with bringing the guests to the right place at the right time. Too bad it was never aired live. (BM)

OTHER SONGS:Every year we open the first X-mas special with Tore B.'s infamous cover of the Per Bergersen-classic "Skyter meg på Julaften" ("Shooting Myself on X-Mas Eve"). This year we twaddled it around a bit and opened with Balle Malurt & Harald Langes live-version from the Hål in the Sko-festival and closed the 3rd X-Mas special with the former. Agnostic Front's cover of the Stiff Little Fingers' classic "Nobody's Hero" was played for 3 reasons; the killing of an AF concert-attender in Washington, D.C. this fall was our most frequent news-report, no-one in Aggresso! really likes AF so we picked this cover and since we didnt win any awards (see the top of this e-mail) I guess we're nobody's heroes in the radio. Scum de la Norvege sent us their 2009 X-Mas album "O' Scum Med Din Glede" and "O Jul Med Din Glede" is lifted off that. (BM)
* hence our increased amount of downloaded songs on our playlists the last 6 months as a contradiction to our "physical releases only"-statement in our music/demo-submission policy
Bubblers/runners up:

BILLY BONER - ... NOT QUITE FAMOUS YET (self rel)

BØYEN BENG - FANTERI (Fysisk Format)

TV EYE - NICE PEOPLE (self rel)Aggresso! are back for the last 5 firework-filled months Wednesday January 12th. We'll play all the records that we didnt find time for before X-Mas as well as the ones we've received after the last ordinary show for 2010. Like Years of Decay (Fra), Aristillus, Summon the Crows, Shotgun Whalers, Betty White (US), The Stookers (if I remember correctly), Svartsyn, the Hurra For Norge Vol.5-comp, a new Hey Punk! DIY Recs-comp and new singles/songs by Razika, Haust, Jeroan Drive and one or two Mad Butcher Recs-bands. I think that was everyone.
Im currently listening to old shows, all the way back from 2001 - some of them on CASSETTES - with the purpose to give you all a historical look-back on our history. Expect more info on that as we start on the last semester.
HAVE A CRAPPY X-MAS!
